In June 2009 Jones Memorial firstly was named Best Kept School for the WELB and then went on to win the title of ‘Best of the Best’ Supervalu best Kept School in Northern Ireland against 200 other entries. This is a great achievement and the pupils are thrilled after all the hard work. This has never before been held by a school in the WELB area before.

There is a Sensory Garden and a Vegetable Garden. We have a Nature Trail, a Hedgehog House and a Playhouse. Also, a successful wormery stocked with the remnants of the children’s break ensures that our worm population is well cared for!

The Sensory Garden is a showcase for a magnificent pond which attracts various species of local wildlife. Children are encouraged to use all of their senses to explore the area further as they pass over the stoned pathways towards a bridge which lends itself to imaginative play. This Sensory Garden allows all classes to access various features such as the area specifically planned for storytelling which includes a magnificent throne for the storyteller. The amphitheatre is built for drama and song, or for just observing the passing birds and bees!
